What is it?

The objective of this project is to build a parking lot management system that enables parking time and billing management of vehicle entries through license plate recognition.

Many parking lots can use this automation system to integrate with their parking lot ticket-in and ticket-out system. When a vehicle reaches the entrance gate, the license plate recognition program will capture and output license plate numbers to the database. When a vehicle exits through the exit gate, the same process will be repeated. The history of car entries and exits will be used for parking fee calculations and marketing statistics.

The system can be tied to an automated billing machanism.

Credit card usage capability will lead to reduced cash handling.

Quickened traffic flow and reduced delay time at entrance and exit.

Less attendant assistance required

Possible enhancements could include monthly passes and recorded credit card information for frequent users.
