Laser Display System

The main focus of this project was to implement a system that had the ability to project simple, binary text and image displays with laser diodes. The implementation discussed here attempted to consider both the cost and the complexity of such a system and attempted to find a balance between the two. To achieve this balance, a single vertical array of lasers was used to project onto a rotating mirror that, in turn, reflected the laser beams onto an external projection surface at varying intervals. When the laser switching and mirror rotation is fast enough, the resulting projection gives the impression of a full image projected onto the external surface. A simple recipe interface is then provided so that a user can program the system to display a message, image, or set of the two in some predefined manner.
